Before You Book, Read This
A running list of what people ask us on the phone, answered the same way we'd answer it in person.
Is grip texture really worth fitting separately from the rest of the club?
For most golfers, yes. A texture that's wrong for your hand and the season causes unconscious grip-pressure changes that show up as inconsistent face angle — a problem that gets blamed on swing mechanics far more often than it gets traced back to the grip itself.
What's the difference between cord, rubber, and hybrid grips?
Full-cord grips have a coarse woven texture that holds up in sweat and rain; all-rubber grips are smoother and softer on bare skin but can turn slick when wet; hybrid builds combine both, usually cord in the lower hand and smooth rubber in the upper hand, as a middle ground.
How do you measure hand size for a grip fitting?
We take a palm width and glove size, then check where your top-hand fingers actually contact your palm at address, since finger length varies independently of overall hand size. Core diameter and wrap count are built from that measurement, not read off a size chart.
How long does a grip-only session take versus a full club fitting?
A grip-only match runs about 30 minutes. A single-club fitting that includes grip, shaft, and head runs 45–60 minutes. A full bag bench rebuild covering every club typically takes 2–3 hours.
Do I have to buy anything after my session?
No. You'll leave with a written spec card either way, and there's never an obligation to order. If you do build with us afterward, your session fee is credited in full toward the purchase.
What is the seasonal swap program?
Regular clients can swap grip texture twice a year — typically shifting toward more cord for the humid summer stretch and a softer hybrid build for the drier winter months — at a reduced per-club rate instead of paying full regrip pricing each time.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring the clubs relevant to your fitting, the glove you normally wear if you have one, and any notes on hands feeling tired, sore, or slick by the end of a typical round.
Do you fit left-handed golfers?
Yes. Our demo wall and grip stock cover left-handed builds across every category we offer.
Can I get a grip fitting on clubs I already own and love?
Absolutely. Many clients come in just to correct grip diameter or texture on a set they otherwise have no plans to replace.
What areas do you serve?
Our bench sits in downtown Peoria, Illinois, and we regularly see clients from East Peoria, Morton, Washington, and Pekin as well.
